Dearborn, the home of Ford Motor Company, is a regional employment center. Along with major automotive manufacturing Dearborn is an industrial center for steel processing with recent major investments of more than $600 million by Severstal Steel.
The City is also home to nearly 4,000 small to large businesses, many of which have celebrated anniversaries of 50 years and more. Some of the better known companies in Dearborn include the headquarters of AAA Michigan; the international headquarters of Carhartt, known for its premium workwear; Eppinger Manufacturing, the maker of famous Dardevle fishing lures; Al Wissam, a maker of designer fashions; Dearborn Sausage and famous Arab pastry shops.
